Identify signed-in users
Updated
When your users are signed in, identify them so your team sees who they are in the inbox and the conversation follows them across devices.
- Find the Visitor identity secret under Settings → General. Keep it on your server only. Never ship it to the browser or commit it.
- On your server, compute
userHash: the HMAC-SHA256 hex digest of the user's lowercase email, keyed with that secret. In Node:
crypto.createHmac("sha256", process.env.CLICKALONG_IDENTITY_SECRET)
.update(email.toLowerCase())
.digest("hex")- In the browser, after sign-in and on session restore, call
Clickalong.identify({ email, name, userHash }). - Call
Clickalong.reset()when the user signs out or switches accounts.
Optional: Clickalong.set({ plan: "growth", credits: 1240 }) sends small live details to the inbox side panel, so your team sees the user's plan or usage while they reply.
