Clickalong vs Freshdesk
Freshdesk (now part of the Freshworks suite) is a capable, sanely-priced help desk: tickets, automations, a marketplace, and Freddy AI layered on top. For email-and-ticket support operations it's one of the better values in the category.
Clickalong plays a different position. It lives inside your SaaS, answers questions from documents you approve, with citations, and teaches users to finish tasks with guided tours over your real interface. The goal is fewer tickets, not faster ticket handling.
We build Clickalong. Pricing below reflects both public pricing pages as of August 2026, and the verdict section is honest in both directions.
The short version
Choose Clickalong if…
- Your support is dominated by product questions, not order/billing tickets.
- You want guided tours: show the path in the UI instead of describing it in a reply.
- You want flat pricing: $49/month per workspace, AI included, instead of per-agent plans plus AI session fees.
- You want a permanent free plan, and Freshdesk now offers only a six-month free program.
Choose Freshdesk if…
- You run ticket operations across email and phone and need SLAs, escalation rules, and reporting.
- You're already in the Freshworks ecosystem (Freshsales, Freshservice, Freshchat).
- You need a large agent marketplace and admin-grade workflow automation.
- You support non-SaaS channels where in-product guidance doesn't apply.
Side by side

The pricing math
Worked example: five agents on Freshdesk Pro cost $275/month. Add Freddy Copilot for three of them and you're at $362. If Freddy AI Agent handles 1,500 sessions beyond the included 500, that's another $735 at $49 per 100 sessions. Clickalong Pro at $49 flat includes 3,000 AI answers. The pricing models aren't in the same family.
The fair counterpoint: Freshdesk's $19 Growth tier is genuinely cheap for a competent email help desk, and if you need ticket operations Clickalong doesn't compete there. The comparison matters for SaaS teams choosing between deflecting product questions in-app versus managing them as tickets.
Frequently asked questions
Is Clickalong a good Freshdesk alternative?
For SaaS teams whose volume is product questions ('how do I…', 'where is…'), yes. Clickalong answers in-app from your docs and guides users with tours, which prevents tickets rather than managing them. For email/phone ticket operations with SLAs, Freshdesk remains the better-shaped tool.
Does Freshdesk still have a free plan?
Not a permanent one. As of August 2026 public pricing starts at $19/agent/month (Growth); Freshworks markets a six-month free program for up to two agents, after which you move to paid plans. Clickalong keeps a genuine free plan: 10 teammates, 200 AI answers per month, 10 documents, and 5 tours.
How do Freddy AI and Clickalong's AI differ?
Both answer from your knowledge content. Freddy is metered by session ($49 per 100 after the first 500) and lives in a ticketing workflow. Clickalong's tutor is included in the plan (3,000 answers/month on Pro), cites its sources, refuses when docs don't cover something, and can escalate to your inbox, or walk the user through the task with a guided tour.
